Oracular Spectacular

If you were at a party in the eighties, rocking out with a frizzed mullet and sparkly tights tucked into your scrunched up socks and tripped out on acid in a bathroom at someone’s house party, this is what would play through your head.
The hallucination inducing sounds of soft electro and sometimes pop, mixed with mocking lyrics such as “let’s make some music make some money find some models for wives” makes their debut album Oracular Spectacular hard to rub your eyes and turn away from.

The duo Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser started making music in their college dorm in Connecticut. They pair have not only proven that sarcastic school boy humour can successfully shit on the life of coked up rockstars, but inspiration can be drawn from the smallest of things. According to Rolling Stone Magazine their hit Time To Pretend was “inspired by the jerky movements of the duo’s pet praying mantus”. Despite their muse being on the smaller side of life, the album is anything but. Oracular Spectacular is everything you want it to be. Play or die.
